Tellico

The final stop on the ride and a complete surprise. While It is a TVA dam, it is not a power generating dam so, it was not even on my radar. Don’t ask me how I could miss such a historic location, I mean I didn’t miss it, but I almost did!

Tellico has a history, good or bad it has a story. Researching it I learned that building it saved many lives through flood control and it has supplied much needed spark to the area in home prices and opportunity. However there is a larger than average amount of issue with what was buried under the water, and how it happened. Largely political in nature, which I steer clear of here, so I will simply say, if you are up for a ‘who is the good guy’ mystery? The history of Tellico dam is a good study.
