Work Sites: Cherokee & Douglas dams
Cherokee dam
I must admit. Of all the dams that were your run of the
mill, seen every day dam, Cherokee was it for me.
Ironically, this is the big daddy of the trio that included South Holston and Ft. Patrick Henry. But it didn’t have any defining features. As much as I hate to say it. If you wanted a Dam you could fall asleep describing, it’s Cherokee dam. And if I had any chance of spinning this I would say, that is how good it was built. It is quite boringly perfect.
Douglas dam

Douglas dam holds a special place in my heart. Ok personal first. The Sign was one of the hardest ones to get the picture in front of aside from Chickamauga ‘s sign. The road was very busy. I actually passed it and worked up the nerve to finally park in front and get the shot while so many people were driving past.

Enough about me, the site I remember from the overlook of the dam. This site, apposed to the last, we wanted to show off our work. And show off we do. It is an impressive site. One that old men and women sill sit on benches and just look. I know this because I witnessed it. Locals, that just take the time from their day to just watch from the overlook. That’s peace if I’ve ever known it.
The Bathrooms, yeah well I guess we need to talk about this sooner or later. I
am not impressed with the number of visitor centers and public restrooms I have
seen at my sites. This is a good example of what I mean. .
