The little dam with the big name!

Fort Patrick Henry Dam is one of the smallest dams we have. Ocoee 2 is the smallest. While it’s not a huge tourist attraction, it is a wonderfully peaceful place to visit. I found motorcyclists appreciate the dam if just for the location right outside the town. The scenery is just amazing.

Much like Boone which is less than fifteen minutes away, FPHD was built in the 50’s, producing sixty megawatts it will power the town of Kingsport with a little to spare. It’s the third of the series of dams that include South Holston and Cherokee.
