Work Sites: Trip 3 Great Falls Dam

Great Falls Dam (Watch your mouth!)

I didn’t know this existed no less a work site until I searched google and thought, “hey! That’s close enough for after work trip!” So that’s exactly what happened after work today.

Ok first, yet another work park! We do a lot of good. People enjoy what we provide for them at no cost to them. And turn around and bad mouth us. Shame on them. Ok enough elitist talk. I am starting to put Ideas together for future trips that might have to do with some of the work amenities. We will see!

Back to the dam (Watch your mouth!)

For looking incredibly small in google maps it turned out to be quite large. I noticed that we don’t have a manned post at the site. Makes me wonder if we manage it from my home office. I’ll be researching that as time goes on.

The Dam (Watch yo.. yeah I know I know…) was actually built in 1915 by TEPC.. And read a lot more about it HERE!

There is an old bridge that was completed around 1925. It’s long past dilapidated. It’s a glorified power line holder now. I can’t tell if I think it should have been removed or if I think it’s a nice reminder of the past. I do know that the longer it sits up there with boats going under it, the more chance of an accident when it finally gives way. The hidden engineer in me things that even with a wood floor the metal arches and rivets used should hold it together by shear stubbornness. Maybe a 100 year storm. What am I doing imagining the demise of a bridge I may or may not have fished next to today. Don’t ask me about the snake skins I saw!

After the dam (W…Don’t do it!) I decided a nice ride to Fall Creek Falls for some introspection because of the trying times would round out the trip nicely and it did.
